Cheaper Home Batteries Program – Save Big from July 2025

Starting 1 July 2025, the Australian Government's $2.3 billion Cheaper Home Batteries Program will provide eligible households, small businesses, and community facilities with an upfront discount of approximately 30% on the cost of installing small-scale battery systems. This initiative aims to make energy storage more accessible, allowing you to store excess solar energy generated during the day for use during peak times, thereby reducing reliance on the grid and lowering electricity bills.

Eligibility Criteria

• Installation Date: Battery systems must be installed on or after 1 July 2025 to qualify.

• Approved Products: Only batteries listed on the Clean Energy Council's approved list are eligible.

• System Size: The program targets typical small-scale battery systems, generally up to 50kWh.

How to Access the Discount

The discount will be applied at the point of sale through participating solar and battery retailers and installers. Ensure you choose a provider accredited under the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) to benefit from the program.
